Washing & Care
What's the best way to wash my pad?
Pop it in the washing machine with your normal mild detergent, liquid or powder, at the temperature on the care label. That's all it needs. A gentle wash keeps the soft top fresh and the waterproof backing working properly.
Washing for little ones or anyone with allergies? A fragrance-free or sensitive-skin detergent is a kind choice.
Is there anything I shouldn't put in the wash?
Yes, three things: bleach, fabric softener, and all-in-one pods that have softener built in. Over time they weaken the waterproof layer, so leaving them out helps your pad stay protective for longer.
Help, there's a stain! What should I do?
Don't worry, it happens. Treat it the way you'd treat a stain on clothes, using a stain remover like Vanish, then wash the pad as usual. Just steer clear of bleach and anything containing it.
What's the quickest way to dry it?
A tumble dryer on a low heat is fastest. No dryer? It dries quickly on a washing line, a clothes airer or a radiator too. Give it a quick feel before it goes back on the bed to check it's fully dry.
How long will my pad last?
A long time. Our pads are made to handle up to 300 washes while staying waterproof and absorbent. Skipping bleach and softener and drying on a low heat will help yours go the distance.
Where should I keep spare pads?
Once they're clean and completely dry, fold them and keep them somewhere cool and dry, like an airing cupboard shelf or a drawer, out of direct sunlight. A cotton bag or basket makes it easy to grab a spare at 2am. Avoid sealed plastic boxes for long stretches, as fabric likes a little air.
Orders, Delivery & Returns
Every order is packed by our family team and sent with trusted UK delivery partners.
I've made a mistake with my order. Can I change or cancel it?
Get in touch straight away using our contact form or info@darbybedding.co.uk. We get orders moving quickly, so while we'll always try our best, we can't promise to catch every order before it leaves us. If it's already been sent, simply return it when it arrives under our Refund policy.
A quick tip: double-check your delivery address at checkout, as it saves any hold-ups.
When will my order arrive, and what does delivery cost?
As soon as you order, we'll email to confirm we've got it. When it's on its way, a second email arrives with your tracking link. Delivery usually takes 3–5 working days from dispatch.
UK delivery is £2.99, and free when you spend £20 or more. Full details are in our Shipping policy.
Can I order from outside the UK?
Not just yet. For now, we only deliver to addresses in the United Kingdom.
What if I need to send something back?
You've got 30 days from the day your order arrives to ask for a return. Items need to be unused, unwashed and still in their original packaging, and you'll need your order number or proof of purchase. Because these are bedding products, we can't take back pads that have been opened or used unless there's a fault.
Everything you need to know is in our Refund policy.
Bedwetz® Kids
Which Bedwetz® size fits my child's bed?
Our Single pad fits single beds, toddler beds, cot beds and bunk beds. If your child sleeps in a bigger bed, choose our Double.
How do I put the pad on the bed?
Lay it over the fitted sheet where your child sleeps, then tuck the wings down the sides under the mattress. Those wings keep it put all night, however much your little one wriggles.
Why doesn't the pad cover the whole mattress?
That's on purpose. The pad protects the sleeping area, where accidents happen, so changing it in the night takes seconds. No more stripping and remaking the whole bed half asleep.
How does a Bedwetz® pad make wet nights easier?
The soft quilted top soaks up accidents fast, and the waterproof backing keeps the mattress underneath dry. With 5 layers of protection, it's quiet and comfy to sleep on, with no crinkly plastic, and quick to swap for a fresh one, so everyone gets back to sleep sooner.
Is my child the right age for a bedwetting pad?
Every child learns to stay dry at their own pace, so there's no perfect age. Lots of families start with Bedwetz® around potty training, often between 2 and 4, and keep using it for occasional wet nights as children get older. Our pads are suitable from 2 years.
Bedwetting is really common in young children. If your child is over 5 and it's still happening regularly, or you're concerned, your GP, health visitor or school nurse can help.
Will it suit a child with sensitive skin?
Our pads are certified to STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® (certificate 2302028, Centexbel), which means the fabric has been tested for harmful substances. The soft top layer draws moisture away so your child stays comfier. If your child has eczema or another skin condition, check with your GP or pharmacist if you're unsure.
Is it helpful while potty training?
Very. It takes the pressure off for both of you: your child can learn without worrying about the bed, and you can whip off a wet pad and pop on a clean spare in moments. Handy for daytime naps too.
Can I use it anywhere other than the bed?
Yes. Parents use Bedwetz® pads on sofas and carpets during daytime potty training, for nappy leaks, when a child is poorly, and on holidays, sleepovers and car journeys.
How do I keep my child feeling positive about wet nights?
Keep it light and matter-of-fact. Let them know that lots of children wet the bed and it's simply part of growing up. Letting them pick their own Bedwetz® design can make the pad feel like a fun part of bedtime rather than something to hide. Praise dry nights, never tell them off for wet ones, and remind them the pad is just there to help everyone sleep well.
Darby Bedding™ Adults
Can adults with incontinence use Darby Bedding™ pads?
Yes. Darby Bedding™ pads give discreet, comfortable protection for adults living with incontinence, recovering after surgery, or managing a health condition. The absorbent top soaks up moisture quickly, and the waterproof backing keeps your mattress dry and fresh.
How much liquid can an adult pad absorb?
Our adult pads are fully waterproof and designed for high absorbency, holding up to around 8 cups of liquid, enough for a full accident. Different products are made for different needs, so if you use other continence products too, check their absorbency to make sure you have the right level of protection.
Why choose washable pads over disposable ones?
Disposable sheets soon add up, both in cost and in what goes to landfill. A washable Darby Bedding™ pad can be used up to 300 times, so it saves money and waste, and it's softer and quieter to sleep on too.
How do I stop my pad moving in the night?
Tuck the side wings firmly under the mattress, and smooth the pad flat before you get into bed. That's usually all it takes to keep it in place until morning.
Does the pad go over or under my sheet?
Over. Lay it on top of your usual fitted sheet, tuck the wings under the mattress and sleep on the pad itself. If you need a change in the night, just lift it off, with no need to remake the bed.
Will anything soak through to my mattress?
Not with a properly waterproof pad like ours. Our waterproof backing stops liquid reaching the mattress. Older, damaged or non-waterproof covers can let moisture through, so it's worth replacing anything worn and following the care instructions to keep your pad performing.
Why might an adult start wetting the bed?
Night-time wetting in adults (sometimes called nocturnal enuresis) can have lots of causes, such as an overactive bladder, a urine infection, diabetes, sleep problems, stress, some medicines, or drinking alcohol or caffeine late in the evening. Because the reasons vary so much, it's always worth talking to your GP.
What's usually behind night-time accidents in adults?
Often it's linked to an overactive bladder, where the bladder muscle squeezes before it's full, or to the messages between the bladder and brain not getting through during sleep. But every person is different, and your GP can help pin down the cause.
Can adult bedwetting be treated?
In many cases, yes, depending on what's causing it. Your GP might suggest bladder training, drinking less in the evening, cutting down on caffeine and alcohol, pelvic floor exercises, ways to manage stress, or medicine. Treating any underlying condition can help too. Meanwhile, a good waterproof pad gives you peace of mind while you find what works.
Can sleeping very deeply play a part?
It can. Some people sleep so soundly that they don't wake when their bladder is full. Tiredness, some medicines and alcohol can make this more likely. If you think it's happening to you, mention it to your doctor.
When is it time to see my GP?
Book an appointment if wetting the bed is new for you, or happens more than now and then. See your GP sooner if you also have pain, blood in your urine, a high temperature, you're unusually thirsty, or your toilet habits have suddenly changed.
What happens at a GP appointment for bedwetting?
Your GP will ask about your symptoms, health, lifestyle, medicines and family history. They may ask for a urine sample or for you to keep a bladder diary, and sometimes they'll arrange bladder tests or a sleep assessment to find the cause.
Could stress be a factor?
Yes, it can. Stress and anxiety can affect both sleep and bladder control. Relaxation techniques, talking therapies or lifestyle changes may help, and your GP can point you to support.
What support can my GP offer for incontinence?
Quite a lot. Your GP can look into what's causing it, suggest bladder training or pelvic floor exercises, prescribe medicine if suitable, and refer you to an NHS continence service or a specialist such as a urologist. They can also advise on lifestyle changes and products to help.
